HEALING WATERS WILDERNESS ADVENTURES
RAFT GUIDE TRAINING - Spring 2025
Healing Waters Wilderness Adventures (HWWA) is a dedicated non-profit organization focused on inspiring, empowering, and enriching the lives of individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS, those struggling with substance use disorders, disadvantaged youth, and the LGBTQIA+ community through transformative outdoor wilderness experiences. Established in 1996, HWWA offers a diverse range of activities, including rafting, sea kayaking, and winter cabin retreats, all designed to foster a connection with nature, encourage personal growth, and build a supportive community.
To enhance accessibility, our organization provides scholarships and subsidized pricing, ensuring that everyone in need can participate in our programs.
Healing Waters is offering an opportunity for you to become a volunteer whitewater raft guide on the South Fork American River! In exchange for comprehensive training, we request that you volunteer a few weekends during the summer to guide our participants down the river. Whether you’re an adrenaline enthusiast or have a passion for outdoor service, this is an incredible and fulfilling opportunity you won’t want to miss!
The cost of guide training is $425, which includes classroom materials, five weekends of on-river training, and meals (partial scholarships are available). Additionally, Swift Water Rescue training is offered separately at a cost of $315 and is conducted by Sierra Rescue, with 50% scholarships available. Join us in making a positive impact in our community while enjoying the great outdoors!
